Call to Action: ELBE Alliance Wave Energy Mission to US West Coast

11. september 2022 – 2:00 – 2:00 Portland, Oregon, USA

ELBE Alliance is organising a wave energy business mission to the West Coast of USA from the 11th to the 16th of September 2022 in the framework of OREC and Ocean Energy Week Portland 2022.

The states of Oregon and Washington gather the largest industrial and R&D network in wave energy in the USA. During the mission, we will visit the most advanced test sites and R&D infrastructures in the country and meet key stakeholders in the wave energy sector in the US (WEC developers, research centres, shipyards, etc.). The ELBE delegation will also have a specific role at OREC 2022, followed with B2B meetings and presentations at the conference.

Flight from Europe to Seattle (Washington)

12th of September

Meetings with Maritime Blue, Oscilla Power; Visit to Siemensu00b4 air turbine test facility in Bellevue; transfer to Portland (Oregon)

13th of September

Visit to VIGOR shipyards; meetings with PacWave; UMERC + Marine Energy Technology Symposium 2022

14th and 15th of September

OREC 2022

16th of September

Visit to OSU – O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Lab; Meetings with Columbia Power Technologies; Flight back to Europe

Detailed agenda will be confirmed closer to the event. During OREC 2022, European companies will have opportunity to present and pitch their technology. Participants should bear their costs of travel, accommodation, and conference entrance ticket. However, Energy Cluster Denmark can subsidize part of the expenses (financial support) for the participating companies.

Eligibility conditions

Participants will be selected on a first come first served basis, and Energy Cluster Denmark members specially SMEs will be prioritized. To obtain financial support, it is required to:

  • Be a SME according to the European definition[1];
  • Develop a product or service positioned on the wave energy converter value chain: project development & siting, assembly & installation, foundations, design, and manufacturing of converters (wind turbines, wave, and tidal converters), grid connection, operation & maintenance and/or support services & auxiliary equipment.

Please note that US requires all travellers with non-US passport to be vaccinated against COVID 19 before boarding the plane.
