Brazil is already a renewable energy powerhouse consisting of 84% renewables of its total 187GW installed capacity. Solar PV and especially Onshore wind power are growing on a fast pace mainly driven by corporate investors in the free market.
Offshore Wind is the new frontier for energy development in Brazil. There are currently 70 projects bidding for environmental licenses at IBAMA (The Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources) with 176.5GW of total proposed capacity. If all these projects will materialize is highly uncertain, however, Brazil has the potential of becoming one of worlds hottest Offshore Wind markets in the future. Offshore wind development in Brazil makes sense, since most of the inhabitants are concentrated along the eastern coastal line as well as will support Brazil potential of becoming a leading producer nation of green hydrogen by 2050.
Based on this background, this webinar is intended to provide perspectives mainly regarding offshore wind and supply chain development in Brazil. It is an opportunity for Danish organizations to get an update on the Brazilian market and how to engage on this market.
This webinar is hosted by INNOWIND Brazil & Denmark innovation program funded by the Danish Energy Agency. In collaboration with The Royal Danish Consulate and Trade Council in Sao Paulo and ABEEolica — the Brazilian Wind Association and its members.
