LORC tests and demonstrates technologies for harvesting renewable energy offshore.
The nacelle test facilities comprises two separate facilities for Function Testing and
Highly Accelerated Lifetime Testing (HALT), respectively.
The Function tester offers full-scale system testing of turbines with a power output up to 10 MW in a unique facility designed to test the electrical systems and validate the turbine’s compliance with various grid codes.
The HALT tester offers highly accelerated lifetime testing of turbines with a power output up to 10 MW. The HALT tester can apply forces and moments to demonstrate 25 years of service life in months.
The Component and Structure Test facilities offers mechanical and climatic testing of large components and systems.
LORC is located at the former Maersk shipyard Lindø in Denmark with an infrastructure suitable for handling heavy sub-structures and wind turbine nacelles.
