Monitoring and controlling the indoor climate in buildings has become easier in recent years, thanks mostly to low-cost IoT devices. Within this project, we wish to develop a market-ready version of Climify: a user-friendly, vendor-neutral platform that makes it possible to use IoT devices from different manufacturers. Climify can be used to monitor and control both residential and non-residential buildings (offices, schools, etc.). The purpose of Climify is to guide residents to an appropriate way to use buildings and the HVAC systems they are equipped with, maximising their comfort while minimising energy consumption (and electricity bills).

Climfy will primarily offer the following features:

  1. Qualitative and quantitative visualization of monitoring data collected by IoT devices
  2. A weather forecast service
  3. A control panel for changing simple HVAC settings in a building
  4. A feedback panel with information on how to reduce electricity bills and optimise the indoor environment
  5. A feedback app where residents can rate their indoor environment directly on a mobile device
  6. An API allowing the use of external algorithms to control HVAC systems
