PlusBox

Challenge

This development project involves developing a system that can make use of a “smart BMS” system to monitor consumption status, fuel cell input, battery charge state, and battery health, as well as disconnecting consumers and detecting low-voltage scenarios to prolong fuel cell life and protect cells from inappropriate shutdowns. All this must be documented and sent to a “big data” server from which this data can be read in order to obtain an account of service intervals and the system’s operation.

Solution idea

Blue+Box is a complete system that can be integrated into our fuel cell set-up as an add-on for extending existing systems. Because the solution fits into existing set-ups, it does not increase the site’s footprint.

Project deliverables

Development and production of a prototype fuel cell system using a battery and a smart BMS system to prolong fuel cell life while protecting cells from inappropriate shutdowns.

Problem solvers

This project is financed by Energy Cluster Denmark’s Energy Technology Innovation (ETI) support programme. It offers three years of support to allow small- and medium-sized businesses to collaboratively develop innovative electronic products focused on energy optimisation. The ETI project is supported by the European Regional Development Fund.
