Challenge

Flow Loop is a clean tech start-up that has developed an energy-saving circulation shower panel that permits energy savings of up to 70% on heated water for bathing. Given that about 25% of a household’s heating usage is on water for bathing, these savings, combined with the panel’s water savings, can produce yearly savings of about 4000–5000 DKK for a standard four-person household (depending on bathing frequency, heating type, and location).

The challenge lies in the B2B segment, where users do not always have an incentive to activate the circulation function. In that scenario, no savings are achieved.

Solution idea

With the above challenge in mind, there is a need for a smart solution for the drainage grate. The envisioned grate, for which a patent application has been filed, will be automatically raised and lowered. It will be equipped with a highly durable battery, sensors, and wireless communication with the shower panel. Consequently, a smart drainage system needs to be developed for automated filtration and UV irradiation.
